Laser treatment for periodontal disease
In short

What it means

Periodontal disease affects the gums and the bone that hold your teeth. Treatment starts with a deep cleaning below the gum line, and the laser helps disinfect the pockets around the teeth. The goal is to stop the disease and keep your teeth for as long as possible.

  • Gum assessment and X-ray
  • Deep cleaning below the gum line, completed with laser
  • Regular check-ups after treatment

Step by stepHow it goes

1

Assessment

We measure the pockets around the teeth and check the bone on the X-ray.

2

Written plan

Stages, number of sessions and total price, before anything else.

3

Treatment

We clean deep below the gum line, then use the laser in the pockets.

4

Maintenance

Regular check-ups, to keep the disease under control.

QuestionsWhat patients ask

The usual signs are gums that bleed when brushing, receding or swollen gums, bad breath and loose teeth. If you recognise them, come in for an assessment.
Lost bone does not grow back by itself, but the disease can be stopped and kept under control with treatment and regular check-ups. The earlier you start, the more teeth you keep.
Where needed we use local anaesthesia, so you stay comfortable. The dentist explains every step beforehand.
It depends on how advanced the disease is. You find the number of sessions in your written plan, after the assessment.
